SOPHIE CASTILLE AWARD FOR BEST TRANSLATION

FICOMIC hosts the Sophie Castille Award for Best Translation for the first time. The award goes to translator Regina López Muñoz for her work on Alison (Errata Naturae).

The Sophie Castille Award is given to the best translation into Spanish or Catalan of the comics nominated in the category of Best Foreign Work of the Comic Barcelona Awards.

The aim of this award is to recognize the work of the translator, as well as to highlight the importance of translation in the world of comics, acknowledging the skill and dedication of the translator who contributes greatly to the dissemination and understanding of these works in our country. In the first phase of the Comic Barcelona Awards, five titles were nominated for the Best Foreign Work category. From these five works, a jury composed of members of Red Vértice (Spanish network of associations of translators, interpreters and proofreaders) evaluated the nominated works and selected three finalists and the winner of the Sophie Castille Award for Best Translation. This award focuses on evaluating the quality of the translation of the work.

The Sophie Castille Award for Best Translation was finally awarded to the translator Regina López Muñoz for her work on Alison, published by Errata Naturae. The three finalists were Regina López Muñoz for Alison (Errata Naturae), Montse Meneses for the Catalan translation of Monica (Editorial Finestres) and Gema Moraleda for her translation of Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands (Norma Editorial).
